February 2024 GO! Ambassador of the Month | Zambia

April 30, 2024

by GO! Zambia Team

Join us in celebrating Humphrey Mumba as our GO! Ambassador of the month for February in Zambia.

Meet Elder Humphrey Mumba, who attends St. Peter's UCZ Church near Kasanda Police in Kabwe. Humphrey is married with four children.

Last year he was invited to attend a workshop on April 29, 2023, organized by Global Orphan Relief at All Saints UCZ Church in Kabwe. What motivated him during the workshop was the message preached concerning the orphans. He felt pity and compassion for them and was deeply touched by the stories shared. At the conclusion of the Great Commandment Workshop he made a personal commitment to find an orphan to help.

After the workshop, he identified one orphan who was disabled, and since then, he has been providing this child with clothes, food, and groceries. This effort by Humphrey has not been easy, especially supporting someone with special needs. At times he has encounter financial difficulties, but the Lord has been faithful to see him through.

I want to encourage anyone out there that you can also help an orphan. Start with what you have, and the Lord will provide for you”.

“I want to encourage anyone out there that you can also help an orphan. Start with what you have, and the Lord will provide for you as you go,” shares Humphrey.

Congratulations to Humphrey for this recognition as she encourages others to walk out in faith.

Global Orphan Relief (GO) has been serving orphaned children since 2005. We have accomplished this work to date through local partners in each country that provides oversight and distribution of care through three care initiatives; Home-Based Care, Education, and Nutrition. In 2022, we launched our Church Mobilization Initiative where we are mobilizing the local church to care for orphan children. Last month, we impacted 14,856 children in Asia (unnamed country), Ethiopia, Kenya, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Zambia within these four initiatives.

Beyond the financial commitment of the workshops, this effort is to be indigenous, self-propagating, and self-supporting.  Our objective is to engage local churches to expand our GO! network, mobilize the church body to serve orphaned children, and to advance the Kingdom through demonstrating the Gospel to others.  Through these workshops, we are:

Church Mobilization is our newest initiative launched in February 2022.  We are currently working with local area churches to co-host Great Commandment Workshops where we bring together multiple subject matter experts to discuss the why and how to serve the poor generally, and orphan children specifically.  We track the impact of children served through this effort to justify continued investment.

We have co-hosted and facilitated twenty-six workshops in Africa and Asia where we have hosted 4,633 ministry leaders. After holding these workshops, we have been honored to commission 3,765 GO! Ambassadors. GO! Ambassadors are those who have received the call to serve orphan children in their communities during these one-day workshops and have made a commitment to serve children in their community.
